In Iraq, two military drones were shot out of the sky as they approached a military base housing American forces near Baghdad’s airport terminal, according to a United States-led coalition spokesperson on January 3.
On that morning, at around 4:30 a.m., two fixed-wing killer drones tried to assault Baghdad International Airport, according to a government official who spoke on condition of anonymity to the media organization, AFP.

The Assassination of Qassem Soleimani
An Iraqi security source verified there have been no reports of destruction or casualties as a result of the strike. Iraqi officials stated the drones were going to target a United States installation in Baghdad that housed U.S. military advisors in Iraq.
In the initial aftermath of the incident (which occurred on the anniversary of a United States strike that assassinated Iran’s top military leader, Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani), no organization claimed credit for the attack.
Per the Defense Department, Soleimani was in charge of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard, which was responsible for the killing of a large number of Americans throughout the years.
On January 2, 2020, he was killed by an American airstrike around Baghdad International Airport.
Officials with the United States-led international coalition combating the ISIS terrorist organization in Iraq informed the Associated Press the C-RAM defensive system was engaged by the so-called “fixed-wing suicide drones” launched from the center.
The C-RAM system protects U.S. military locations in Iraq. According to the official, it was a potentially hazardous strike at a civilian airport.
Pictures released to the media by the global coalition revealed what seemed to be the remains of one of the wings of a drone destroyed in the strike. The phrase “Soleimani’s retribution” was spray-painted on it, according to the alliance.
Per the police, another section of the wreckage had phrases written on it that vowed “revenge actions for their commanders.”

Decisive Action by Donald Trump
The Pentagon verified the attack that executed Soleimani was ordered by President Trump and carried out by the United States military.
Soleimani was said to be actively preparing plans to strike American diplomatic and military personnel in Iraq and around the region, per the report.
According to the United States, Soleimani was directly to blame for instigating attacks on coalition forces in Iraq over the preceding several months.
This is including the attack on the Kirkuk military facility in northern Iraq on December 27, 2019. This resulted in the death of an American soldier and the wounding of several other American and Iraqi soldiers.
Only a few days after the death of a senior Iranian general, the Islamic regime launched missiles against two Iraqi military facilities hosting U.S. personnel. Iran’s rockets did not result in the deaths of any Americans or Iraqis.
