The next president must project confidence to other leaders around the world. Kamala Harris’s recent interview with Fox News calls into question her ability to instill confidence. She did not address any major security concerns, such as Ukraine or China. The Biden-Harris Administration has been chastised for its handling of major foreign policy issues.

Key Issues Are Absent

Vice President Harris’s recent interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier drew criticism for omitting the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and China’s assertive military stance. During the interview, Harris made no mention of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) or the People’s Republic of China (PRC)’s strategic threat. Her focus remained primarily on Iran, raising concerns about her comprehension of critical international security issues.

China’s military maneuvers, such as Joint Sword 2024B, in which PLA forces surrounded Taiwan, demonstrate tangible security threats. The Chinese Coast Guard’s participation in these exercises reflects a comprehensive strategy for controlling Taiwan, which Harris did not adequately address.

Long-Term Strategy versus Immediate Threats

President Biden directed Harris to address the root causes of migration from Central America rather than border security directly. Her strategy centered on attracting private investment, with $5.2 billion pledged and $1.3 billion already invested in the region by June 2024. Harris emphasizes the importance of combating corruption and political instability, despite criticism that these investments would have occurred regardless of her involvement.

Quote: “She felt — and I think she was right — that what she could do the most was help basically lead the effort to draw in investment, using the confidence that a relationship with the White House would give to investors.” – Ricardo Zúniga

Nonetheless, the strategy’s effectiveness is being debated, with some attributing lower migration rates to her efforts. Although many would argue that the lower migration rates were a political ploy.

Criticism of National Security Role

Harris’s absence during the third anniversary of the Afghanistan withdrawal, an event overshadowed by criticism, has continued to question her role in national security. Her decision to evacuate, while the Taliban violated previous agreements, remains contentious.

The administration’s handling of foreign policy issues, such as the resurgence of Iranian-backed terrorism, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and Afghanistan, has been criticized. These elements, when considered together, call Harris’ ability to serve as a strategic leader capable of meeting the demands of the presidency into question.

“Harris is said to have been “the last person in the room” as the fateful decision was made to evacuate Afghanistan, even as the Taliban violated Trump’s conditions-based withdrawal agreement.” – Unknown

Harris’ leadership, particularly in dealing with the nation’s global security interests, continues to be scrutinized. Questions remain about her ability to navigate complex international challenges—a key factor in determining her presidential candidacy readiness.
