According to a new NBC poll, a whopping 71 percent of Americans believe the United States is on the wrong track, with a near consensus of Democrats agreeing with that assessment.
As NBC’s Chuck Todd pointed out, this figure does not speak well for the political party in power. Todd stated on NBC’s “Today” show during Sunday that only 22 percent of American adults believe the country is moving in the right direction.
He went on to remark the revelation is a frightening development for the Democrats.

Since April, the percentage of Americans who believe their nation is on the right path has decreased by 14 percent; it has reduced by 7 percent since August.
Democrat voters make up a large proportion of individuals who have altered their views. In April, a sizable number of Democrats (64 percent) said the country was moving in the right way, according to the Pew Research Center.
Only 41 percent of those polled believe this is the case now. The shocking poll also appears to reflect the waning confidence of Americans in the president and his administration.
Americans Believe Biden Cannot Handle Crises
According to Todd, the poll’s “overriding theme” is people have lost their faith in President Biden and lost overall hope for the nation, at least for the time being.
Likewise, Biden’s approval numbers on the job have continued to deteriorate. According to the NBC poll, his approval rating has now dropped to a dismal 42 percent.
In addition, 54 percent of those polled were dissatisfied with the job Biden is currently doing. Biden’s job favorability rating was significantly higher in August, standing at 49 percent, with only 48 percent complaining about his job performance.

The NBC poll also highlighted numerous other data elements that may have contributed to Biden’s low performance, including Americans’ perceptions of Biden’s ability to deal with a crisis.
Just 37 percent of those polled believe Biden can deal with a crisis, while 47 percent believe he can’t. Similarly, 37 percent of Americans believe Biden is effective and successful, while 50 percent of Americans disagree.
Republicans Get The Job Done
Meanwhile, Republicans outperform Democrats by a wide margin when it comes to deciding which side would do a superior job on various problems.
The poll says Republicans do a better job when it comes to issues like border protection, rising prices, criminality, a global defense, the economy, and “getting the job done.”
Abortion, climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, and schooling are among the issues where Democrats have lower double-digit leads.
One of the surveyors who did the research saw how dramatically public perception of Biden has shifted during the president’s first few months in the White House.
In April, Democrat researcher Jeff Horwitt noted the public’s perception of President Biden shifted drastically in the negative. According to Horwitt, “the promises of the Biden presidency — expertise, competence, and stability in difficult circumstances — have all been questioned.”
The Republican analyst who collaborated with Horwitt on the study believes the results are a red flag for the country.
